Aluminum and its alloys

Materials: Aluminium

Aluminum alloys can be classified as foundry alloys and as alloys for plastic tearing. The foundry-defined aluminum is intended for foundry production, while those defined by plastic processing are used in the form of semi-finished products, such as profiles or sheets.

The latter are marked by 4 digits, where the first indicates the series to which they belong, the second the possible modifications to the alloy and the last two define the alloy. In Europe, the four digits are preceded by EN and AW.

Types

UFG can supply most of the aluminum:

CHARACTERISTICS AND FIELDS OF USE OF ALUMINUM ALLOYS

SERIES 1000

Aluminum with a purity higher than 99.0%, limited mechanical resistance, good ductility, good conductivity and excellent resistance to corrosion. Manufacture of household articles, signs, coatings and coverings, light carpentry, molding, small parts, etc.

SERIES 2000

The main alloying element is copper which gives high mechanical strength, higher stiffness, good weldability and limited corrosion resistance.

SERIE 5000

The main alloying agent is magnesium which gives corrosion resistance and good weldability. Suitable for equipment for the chemical and food industry, household utensils, metal furniture, hydraulic structures, etc.

SERIE 6000

The main alloying agents are magnesium and silicon and give good mechanical and weldability properties. It has good corrosion resistance and is suitable for household appliances, road signs, moulding materials, etc.

SERIE 7000

Excellent mechanical resistance, good weldability and corrosion resistance. Suitable for high-strength parts, aeronautics, etc.
